Make Your Blog Profitable With Social Power Linking
Wed, Jun 18, 2008
Social Power Linking has become one of today’s premier blog strategies, one that increases your links and traffic, thereby increasing profits from your blog.
Since that’s one of the main purpose of your blog site, learning how to use Social Power Linking (SPL) to your advantage is not only wise, but essential in today’s Web 2.0 world.
Because you are using a WordPress blog platform (you have been reading, right?), you are perfectly set up to have guest “authors” on your blog.
Again, I’m sure you’ve been reading about keeping content current and fresh, and how to hire out and delegate some writing duties. One great way to do that is to partner with another blogger in your niche, and post for each other. This is a great way to “get more bang for your buck,” consolidate your efforts, and make your posts go a long way.
Using comments, articles, helpful links you stumble upon around the net, or short snippets of information keep your site fresh. Using trackbacks consistently solidifies your efforts further, by getting you a link from every one of your posts on other sites.
More posts means more keywords in the search engines. If you are working on a niche blog, then you are hopefully familiar with the Authority Black Book, the tell-all for online marketers.
More posts, more links, higher page ranking in the search engines, and more traffic.
Another way to use Social Power Linking to your advantage to gain links and increase your traffic is the idea of linkbaiting.
Linkbaiting basically refers to using posts that have high controversy or high interest, compelling others to click through. Some would argue that the “baiting” part is bad or unethical, but if the information you are presenting is worthy, and it compels visitors to click through, then there is really no harm. In fact, you will gain links and traffic, which is the point of the whole exercise.
More controversial linkbaiting strategies are often used, however, giving the whole concept a bad name at times. Linkbaiting strategies such as attacking other bloggers to get them to respond to you would be an example of an unethical use of linkbaiting.
If you are just using a post to generate a buzz and some traffic, then that’s not going to cause any problems!
Use social sites to your advantage when you are trying Social Power Linking techniques. Whether you choose Technorati.com, Digg.com, MyBlogLog.com, Propeller.com, or any of the other thousands of choices, spread the word!
Get your posts on several sites, and link them to each other. Build your online network and your online community of followers, who will be waiting impatiently for your next posting. When you are in the online marketing world, clearly “the more the merrier” is the way to go.
