Tue, Jul 22, 2008
The most important thing you need to do before beginning your blog is choosing your topic.
The topic you finally do select is so important, because you don’t want to get tired of thinking about it or run out of things to say.
Remember when you are trying to find a blog topic for everyday blogging that you will have to constantly be coming up with fresh and relevant content, so be careful to choose something you are interested in already or very interested in learning a lot more about.
How can you choose a great blog topic?
There are several things you can consider when you are brainstorming to choose the perfect topic for your blog: Do you have a particular hobby or special interest?
Are you really into digital photography, scrap booking, woodworking, or some other craft?
Do you enjoy bird watching, stamp collecting, or astrology?
Maybe you are really into pets—regular pets like dogs and cats can give you lots to blog on.
Not to mention the more unusual pets like reptiles, rodents, tarantulas, pot-bellied pigs, or hermit crabs.
Sports enthusiasts can offer continuous commentary on current events as well as sports history.
How about blogging about dining out—review every restaurant you can find!
These are some very popular topics that you can write nearly endlessly about. Do you have a special trade, career, or job training that offers you access to useful information?
If you’re an investment or mortgage broker, offer some advice on investing money or making it! People are always looking for information about fitness, nutrition, or real estate, too. How about considering your personal life experiences for material? Are you a seasoned world traveler who’s been to every continent?
A you a war veteran? A recovering alcoholic or drug addict? Perhaps you’ve survived cancer and want to support others during their battle.
Parents can offer other new parents a wealth of knowledge, too. Don’t forget that many adults these days are caring for elderly parents while balancing young families — plenty of material can be found in your very own personal experiences, and sharing these experiences may help others going through similar fights.
When you are trying to find a blog topic for everyday blogging, the sky’s basically the limit. Pretty much any topic works, as long as it works for you.
Start by taking a good hard look at your life, your interests, your training, your experiences, virtually every aspect of your life, and then imagine yourself posting about that topic regularly—if not every day, then at least several times a week if you want your blog to get some measurable traffic.
Blogging about one of your favorite topics can really be a great experience—think about it, not only do you get to share your information and passion, but, in the process, you will continue to learn more yourself as you do the research and read other people’s blogs along the way!
