PPC Meets SMM - BuzzLogic Hits a Home Run
Tue, Nov 6, 2007
Wouldn’t it be nice to scan the millions of active conversation happening on the web at any given time and immediately introduce yourself (or your product/service or skill) to only the most relevant conversations, in real time?
Pooof! Your (and my) wish has come true!
Conversation Targeting
According to the expaliners on BuzzLogic’s new “Conversation Targeting” service, this is exactly what us IMers can do now.
Here’s how they put it:
“BuzzLogic Ad Targeting is the industry’s first Conversation Targeting ad system. It looks at the on-topic linking behavior between blogs and other social media, then targets your ad against the influential opinion leaders and their content at the moment the online discussion is generating the most attention….Ad Targeting appears as a “tab” within the existing BuzzLogic application, allowing you to pinpoint powerful online discussions relevant to your products or brands, then launch a text or display ad campaign against these social media sites all from the BuzzLogic dashboard.”
If you are at all familiar with PPC services such as AdWords you will quickly recognize the power of being able to enter a tightly targeted conversation rather than a generally targeted website/webpage. It is entirely reasonable to assume that a person is much closer to buying once he/she has started to engage in a conversation about a given product or service.
For example, we do it all the time at the mall…when you are ready to buy you usually ask a few clarifying questions of the staff and head to the checkout aisle, right? But, if you are only browsing, you may read the info printed on the box or label but then, ironically, head home to do a bit of research on the internet. You won’t buy until you’ve had that “should I buy this” conversation with yourself and others whose opinion you value.
Social media marketing is a dynamic arena and best you keep up. This service seems like an important match between the trackable conversion power of PPC and the intimate appeal of social media.
