Blogging 101

Blog commenting and trackbacks are two of the biggest strategies for you to use to obtain more links for your website right now.

Knowing how to use these techniques effectively to your advantage can make all the difference in the world between having tons of links and more traffic and having your site sit basically dead in the water.

Blog commenting involves visiting the blogs of others in your particular niche or some related or relevant niche topic.

Commenting on another person’s blog accomplishes several important goals, and ultimately increases your blog’s visibility.

Using your comments wisely can get your blog noticed more often.

Tips for Wise Blog Commenting

1. Comment intelligently and respectfully.

Remember that you are drawing attention to your own blog by commenting on someone else’s—be careful that you don’t make rude or abrasive comments or inflammatory statements that aren’t necessary. Anyone who gets a comment from you will most certainly be reading your blog, checking out who you are and what you are all about.

2. Show the blogger you are commenting for that you are actually interested in their topic and their blog by initiating “conversation” and a back-and-forth dialogue between your blogs.

Your readers will appreciate this, you will stimulate more lively discussions on your blog, too.

Trackbacks are ways to incorporate your link into another person’s blog site. By using trackbacks, you can be acknowledged for commenting on another blog, and get a link to your site.

More links generally means higher page ranking, and directly translates into more traffic to your website. This system benefits both blogs. Promoting your blog becomes easier when you can include any visits you make to other relevant blogs!

Tips for Wise Trackbacking

1. Try to use trackbacks with high-traffic blogs whenever possible.

This should be a real no-brainer, and an obvious way for you to generate more traffic—getting more readers from more popular blogs will naturally send more traffic your way.

2. Make sure you are using trackbacks on relevant blogs.

Otherwise, you can be mistaken for spam, and nobody needs more spam.

3. Make sure you learn how to give out your trackback URL with your posts.

Certain types of platforms and custom themes do not support trackbacks and you may need to install special scripts to have them work properly.

Make sure you are getting the trackbacks done correctly, otherwise it’s a waste of time.

Blog commenting and trackbacks are two very basic methods of blog promotion that have basically helped create a new generation of Internet users and a whole new “infrastructure” to the Internet.

The social media techniques that are now available offer opportunities not seen before.

Today’s Internet bloggers have tools at their disposal that allow quicker and more efficient linking among sites, quicker page rank increases, and quicker success for your website.

Using these techniques methodically and patiently will bring rewards!
