How to Organize an Interview with the Top Expert of Your Niche Market
Mon, Jun 30, 2008
Hypothetically, let’s just suggest that there are experts other than you in your niche market. There are a lot of benefits to you if you are reciprocal with these other experts, sharing information, links, target audiences, etc.
You’ve heard the saying that “there’s strength in numbers,” right? One way to get these numbers working for you is to try and interview the other experts in your niche market.
Setting up interviews with other experts in your niche is not difficult, if you go about it in the right way.
Present them with an offer that they can’t refuse. For example, interview them about one of their products or services, whether or not it happens to be one that you offer on your website.
Every expert loves to talk about their products and services, and why theirs is best.
Getting the attention of other experts in your niche will actually get you noticed by them, and they might just do the same for you. It’s good business.
There really is enough Internet business to go around, and you won’t be giving away any customers by interviewing other experts—especially if your site and your products are better.
You will, however, be gaining exposure and credibility in your niche.
How do you go about getting interviews with other experts in your niche?
Find those experts by doing extensive research in your niche.
Are there any “big names” in the field?
Go ahead and contact them through email or their blog site.
Request an interview, by offering them the exposure of themselves, their site, their products, etc. Even if they have never heard of you, offering to plug their stuff on your site will at least get your email read.
Think about it, you will be getting some fresh, relevant content for your site. You will be gaining exposure. The other experts that you interview will be experiencing the same benefits. This is a truly “win-win” situation, if you play it right.
When you interview the other experts in your niche, be sure to prepare some interesting and relevant questions.
A boring question-and-answer format will not lock in any visitor’s attention, so try and come up with something more interesting content-wise. For example, asking the expert about favorite marketing strategies, or unknown little secrets they’ve developed.
Asking for a review of an old e-book may not make for interesting content. Listen carefully to the responses you get, and follow the lead of the expert you are interviewing. You will probably learn something yourself while you are interviewing.
Keep in mind that interviewing other experts in your niche market will get you more noticed and more recognizable as an expert in the field. And, you will certainly gain some invaluable insider information from these other experts.
Before you know it, others will be banging down your door (or your email) for interviews from you!
